Delayed commissioning activities have the same impact on the project schedule as construction activities. Many times, the contract project schedule includes one or two lines to cover the commissioning activities – generally at the end of the construction activities. To minimize or prevent delayed construction completion impacting the start or duration of the commissioning phase activities and to shorten the combined construction/commissioning duration, it is preferred that, early in project development, a relatively detailed commissioning schedule be developed to specifically identify the order and timing of the required construction completion of plant systems.
This will permit construction with early notice of the required construction completion activities and parallel fast-track system and plant completion.
NEPS can develop a reverse-pass 100 – 400 activity “standalone” MS Project commissioning “fragnet” identifying the required construction turnover date to meet the COD. This “fragnet” can be integrated into the project overall Primavera or MS Project schedule.
Alternately, NEPS can, undertake an independent review of the commissioning activity schedule developed by others.
